Champions for Children's Environmental Health Train-the-Trainer Workshop
After the success of the 2009 Winnipeg workshops, the Canadian Partnership for Children's Health and the Environment (CPCHE) in collaboration with the Children's Health & Environment Partnership of Manitoba is offering an advanced two-day workshop.
The Champions for Children's Environmental Health Workshop aims to train professionals who work with children to lead workshops and educate others in their organizations and sectors on children's health and environment.
Participants in this workshop will be supported, resourced and equipped to teach others about environmental risks to child health including topics such as environmental exposures in food, indoor and outdoor air quality, and products and play materials. Over the course of the workshop, participants will be trained on presenting this information to different audiences. This workshop will be of interest to child care and health practitioners who work in the areas of preconception, prenatal, child and family health.
When: February 18 & 19, 2010 8:30-4:00pm

Cost: $65

Bio: Myriam Beaulne, Workshop Facilitator
Myriam Beaulne has many years of experience in health promotion, environmental toxicology, ecology, scientific studies, and environmental law. Myriam has worked for government agencies, educational institutions, labs and non-profit organizations in Canada and the United States. She has a strong commitment towards the protection of our environment and our health and her work bridges science and policy and helps to raise public awareness of the dangers of chemical exposures.
Criteria: This workshop will involve presentations, interactive activities and group discussions. Please come prepared to learn and share your experiences with others.
Each participant will be asked to prepare a 5-minute presentation on a topic that will be assigned to them.
Please note that in consideration of those with allergies or respiratory problems, this workshop is a scent-free event. Please refrain from wearing perfume, cologne or other scented products. Thank you.
Out of town? We are offering the option to participate on the mornings of February 18 and 19, 2010 via web for those who are located in areas outside of Winnipeg.
