NEWCOMERS CONSTELLATION
The purpose of this "constellation" or working group is to:
- Develop strategies that work for immigrant services providers based on their clients' needs and the clearest ways to communicate information around children's health and the environment;
- Create resources that are practical for newcomers on product safety and hygiene;
- Gather information on inexpensive safe alternatives to common baby and household products;
- Identify activities to integrate into existing immigrant service provider workshops that might include hands-on learning
- Break down information on children's environmental health and provide further explanation in plain-language, through visuals and skits and in the future, in multiple languages
- Share strategies in communicating information and equipping clients with tools to protect themselves and their kids from toxic exposures;
- Ask the questions that commonly surface from newcomers about how to protect kids from exposures;
- Exchange ideas with other service providers on how existing children's environmental health tools and resources could be adapted and used in their work.
ABORIGINAL/COMMUNITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CONSTELLATION
The purpose of this "constellation" or working group is to:
- Develop strategies that work for Aboriginal services providers based on their clients' needs and the clearest ways to communicate information around children's health and environment;
- Create resources that are practical for moms and kids that incorporate cultural values, customs, economical rationale and safety;
- Gather information on inexpensive safe alternatives to common baby and household products
- Identify activities to integrate into existing Aboriginal service provider workshops or circles that might include hands-on learning
- Break down information on children's environmental health and provide further explanation in plain-language and through visuals;
- Ask the questions that commonly surface about how to protect kids from exposures;
- Provide feedback through the lens of an Aboriginal service provider on resources developed by the Children's Health & Environment Partnership;
- Exchange ideas with other service providers on how existing children's environmental health tools and resources could be adapted and used in their work.
