Many of the environmental risks that lead to illness and poor health can be lessened or prevented with proper health education and preparation. Health professionals are in an excellent position to deliver the care and health education needed to protect children from environmental threats and to share information with colleagues. While the subject of Children's Environmental Health is not yet standard in most medical and nursing schools, health professional are seeing an increasing number of patients with environmental health problems.

• Increase their literacy on the topic of environmental health to better diagnose and treat symptoms or illness. 
• Provide parents and patients with a better understanding of hazardous exposures to their children.
• Ensure that their own health centres, hospitals or clinics are not contributing to the environmental burden by implementing green health care practices.
• Influence environmental and health policy through your professional associations.
• Become involved with the Children's Health & Environment Partnership in Manitoba by joining our Health Professionals Constellation.
